Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space – exploring these fundamental elements of our own Being, and All, through Yoga and Meditation
Connecting with the Five Great Elements
To enhance and re-balance our health and well-being
The Five Elements, or in Sanskrit – Panchabhuta, are the essential building blocks of our physical embodiment, and indeed for all manifest creation. Yet the stresses of modern life, especially with the overreliance on technology, can often create imbalance between the five elements, leading to inevitable physical, mental and emotional disharmony.
This training explores the Five Great Elements – Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space -in both theory and, importantly, practice. Students will be able to deepen their understanding of the interplay of the panchabhuta within them, and the importance of cultivating balance and integration between them. This in turn promotes deeper self-enquiry, as well as appreciation of the natural world that is so vital for our peace of mind and sense of well-being.
The training will draw upon some key yoga and ayurveda sources that can enhance the experience of the panchabhuta. Furthermore, it will explore imbalances with the five elements – physically, energetically, mentally and emotionally as well as techniques, practices and insights to promote balance, health and harmony once again.
A wide variety of practices will be shared, such as asana (postures), mindful movements (flowing sequences), pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation (aware stillness), yoga nidra (deep relaxation), hand mudras (energetic gestures) and mantra (sacred sound). The teachers will guide these practices in the service of exploring and re-balancing the panchabhuta. Alongside this will be the opportunity to deepen the appreciation of the sacred Intelligence within each one of us, and within Nature, thereby promoting genuine holistic health and well-being.
Krishnaprem, an experienced teacher aligned with Mandala Yoga Ashram, and Nikki Jackson, an experienced yoga teacher and yoga therapist, who runs the 580 hr Yoga Therapy training course, will be co-facilitating this training to help you connect to the Five Great Elements, within yourself, and within Nature, to enhance your self-understanding, and overall health and wellbeing.
The training comprises of five online two-hour evening sessions to explore each of the elements in turn, culminating in a 4-day retreat at the nature and yoga rich Mandala Yoga Ashram. The retreat will allow a deeper learning, assimilation and integration of the panchabhuta through skillfully guided practice, supported by walking and simply being in the beautiful and wild grounds and countryside of the Ashram.
